Without garlic I simply would not care to live.
We are garlic people.
Not in a casual, “I throw a clove in the pan” kind of way. In the deep, borderline-obsessive, how-many-varieties-exist-and-why-don’t-more-people-know-about-them kind of way. So when we decided to build something around it, a simple online shop felt like a missed opportunity.
What we actually built is a marketplace — a global home for people who take garlic seriously. Growers, producers, foodies, health-conscious cooks, and the quietly passionate who’ve been waiting for somewhere that gets it. If that’s you, welcome. Garlic Shop is yours.
More Than a Shop
Most food retail online is transactional by design: find product, add to basket, move on. We think garlic deserves better than that.
So we started with three things we could do properly from day one: our own curated range of garlic products, a growing library of recipes from around the world, and longform articles that actually go deep on the subject. Varieties, provenance, health, history, cooking — the stuff that turns a casual interest into a genuine passion.
That’s the foundation. The longer vision is a true marketplace — a place where growers and producers from anywhere in the world can reach buyers who care about quality and provenance. That’s coming. For now, we’re building the community and getting the fundamentals right. The ambition is global. The community comes first.
The AI Experiment
We’ll be transparent about something, because it matters to us and we think it should matter to you too.
Garlic Shop is also a live experiment in what AI can actually do inside a real retail business. Not a pilot. Not a sandbox. A proper, trading business — with customers, suppliers, logistics, and all the messiness that comes with it.
We want to understand, firsthand, where AI genuinely helps (product discovery, customer service, content, market intelligence) and where it falls short or needs a human in the loop. We’re not chasing automation for its own sake. We’re chasing understanding and we’ll share what we learn.
That’s very Begility: build it, run it, learn from it. No theory without practice.
